David Blaine explains how he held his breath for...
via youtube.com Watch the whole video, you don’t want to miss it. Surprisingly, David Blaine is a pretty good public speaker. At first, it doesn’t seem like it, but after you get used to him he becomes really funny and still interesting (ladies?). Posted via web from Mark Kammel | Comment »
Lemonade film now on hulu, you have no excuse
An inspiring great film, watch it. Posted via email from Mark Kammel | Comment »
Interesting
Very cool watch, saw it when I was browsing around online today. Is it cliche? I don’t particularly think so, and while it is a correct color wheel, I more prefer shiny and pretty colors over the accuracy (but it is nice). Is it worth 30 bucks? I think so actually. http://www.whatonearthcatalog.com/cgi-bin/hazel.cgi?randomizer=432043520&action=detail&item=CD8262 Posted via email ...

Stop bugging everyone microsoft
Today I realized that on windows computers the title of my blog is not in helvetica (which it is set to) but in some kind of sans type font. Just another way microsoft yells and screams and kicks on their operating system about even the smallest things like fonts. For those who are like “mark you are overreacting microsoft doesn’t care about your fonts” well thats actually not...
NostalgicConclusion//Bacon
via tofslie.com I was having trouble finding the final post for the Nostalgia series, it seemed I had exhausted the majority of all the material in my archives. Luckily, I stumbled upon this, and not surprisingly, it made me laugh and want bacon all the while. Copyright Criminals looks seriously interesting,...
via wired.com I’m very interested in seeing this documentary. It will be premiering at the Toronto Film Festival this coming week. I wonder whether it will take a side in this scenario, or just leave me with so much information than I can’t even take a side to begin with? Certainly something I will watch if it comes nearby or hits DVD. Posted via web from Mark...
iTablet to be announced on the 27th, 99% sure
via engadget.com The inner geek in me rejoices. Besides the fact I probably cannot afford this, it’s still insanely cool. Apple just recently announced it is going to hold an event on the 27th in California to unveil it’s “latest creation”. Oh? I wonder what it’s going to be? Posted via web from Mark Kammel | Comment »
Today I got a haircut and went to the apple store!
Also, a homeless fellow on the street said “how’s it going little man?” to me today. Posted via email from Mark Kammel | Comment »
Today was an interesting day
Often I will use the word ‘interesting’ for words like ‘bad’, ‘extremely unusual’, and things aren’t even interesting. At first I knew it was a bad day when I had punched into work and asked a black customer if he needed any help with hard drives (as he was observing them), he looked at me, became frustrated and grumbled something. I was concerned, so I...
Nostalgia//Jordan Chark
More than a year ago I posted this image And let’s admit it, it’s a good picture. To me, it’s not perfect, perhaps at the time I thought it was astounding. Looking at it now, it just seems like a good picture. This is, unfortunately, pretty indicative of his photostream on flickr, his photos are just good. Are they worth posting? I’d say yes (hence this part right below)....
Watch Lemonade today
Last night I attended a screening of a documentary called lemonade that I had found when I was browsing around online. It turns out that one of the only showings was at my school, very convenient. I was extremely impressed with it, especially how it kept my attention throughout, and also that it had a very high production quality (considering it’s eric poloux’s first film). The good...
Nostalgia//Flickr Photo Stream
[apologies for my lack of posting in the last few days] About a year ago I posted this stunning photo. Again, nothing else in the post, just a photo. I will not lie, a photo this breathtaking almost deserves to stand alone, but this isn’t some random photo taken by a lucky guy, Joel Bedford has some real talent. All i can gather from his work is that he really knows how to present color,...
The re-blog, re-tweet, and you.
Recently I’ve been thinking about the idea of re-blogging and re-tweeting. I’m about to get pretty technical, so heads up.
The re-tweet is a fairly new concept, but the re-blog has been around for quite a while. For those unaware, this is the idea of being able to instantly take someone else’s tweet or blog post and with one click, re-blog or re-post it on your blog, obviously...
Kelly Reichardt and I both like trains
I recently watched Wendy and Lucy, a film by Kelly Reichardt. it tells the story of (shock) a woman named Wendy and her dog, Lucy. In the film, Wendy is on her way to Alaska to attempt to make some money working for a few fisheries. At the moment, she lives out of her car and is essentially living off a few hundred dollars. As a series of events unravel in one particular town and as she...
Knowing What You Don't Know
A little more than a month ago I passed by the museum of fine art while on the way to work like normal. I saw this woman standing very firmly directly in front of the main door of the museum, no more than 50 feet from the steps to the main entrance. She seems in her 40s and was wearing all black clothing (old clothing). I noticed that behind her was an old still film camera, and that she was...

Nostalgia//Random Photo Post 2
One year ago I posted this really cool image taken by a fellow named Shawn Palmquist, a lot of his work has very extreme angles, symmetrical objects (which I love), and super wide angles (also love). Once again, it was a random photo post, no research, no name, just a photo. Let’s fix this.
It doesn’t seem like he has a flickr, which considering his work, he really should consider...

Nostalgia//PBFcomics
Again, A year ago i discovered a website called http://pbfcomics.com, needless to say, the author of all these comics are just hilarious. They are all centered around maniacal scenes and unfortunate misunderstanding. Some people might find them offensive, so I’ve taken the liberty of compiling my favorite ones (harmless too).

Nostalgia//14 Kitties in a box
via kammel.tumblr.com
One year and one day ago I posted this image I found on tumblr titled “14 kitties in a box”. And let’s be honest with each other: this is just fantastic.
Unfortunately, a search of the title reveals nothing on the artist or the actual piece (I couldn’t even find the image at all).
Clicking on the image usually reveals the source for me on tumblr,...
You and I both know you want to play the 8-bit...
via youtube.com Yes, yes and yes. And while I’m too tired to play tonight (yes, it’s 8:40pm and I’m tired), the video obviously suggests that this is amazing. play here: http://sites.google.com/site/ericdavidruth/game-left4dead And for those of you who don’t know (and recently thats been a lot of people): I am a very sarcastic person, lookout for that when I saw...

Nostalgia//Random Photo Post
More random photo posts from me huh? Geeze, about year ago I was nothing but random photo posts and maybe a few words here, some letters there. It’s unfortunate too, that the average blogger’s post it just a sentence and maybe a picture, but more on this later. So last January I reposted this picture, and it’s truly a beautiful grid: consistent, colorful, and well, happy...

Nostalgia//MLK never looked so good
About a year ago I reposted this first image I found when I was on tumblr. I found that this was made by an artist who refers to himself online as “dan23”, this was found obviously from his flickr account, but a google search reveals a great amount about him, but no last name. It’s pretty clear a deals with both digital and hand-made art dealing with famous world icons like...

Nostalgia//
“Nostalgia//” is a quick series of posts (most likely through january) I’d like to do where I trace over posts I made exactly a year back, and go deeper into them. It seems that for January 2009, I made many posts of photography and art that I liked, so I’ll be checking those out again, trying to trace it to an artist, just fleshing everything out really. Hope you folks...

Jackie Chan's Who am I trailer: what a pro
via youtube.com and don’t we all remember one of the greatest films ever made (no?). Actually, to me, this is one of those “I watched it so much as a kid I have to love it” type films, in reality, it’s just plain terrible. Posted via web from Mark Kammel | Comment »
