“Man Push Cart” was a nice watch, depressing.
The rawness of Bahrani’s Man Push Cart is what will get you. It feels like half of the film was shot with a telephoto lens from half a mile away. The entire film is watched from afar as a man tries to live a life he doesn’t want to. Unlike Bahrani’s other films (and this can all be heavily debated), there doesn’t seem to be a sliver of hope for the main character.
I liked it, but it doesn’t need to be at the top of your list.
